Portal Unand is a web-based academic information system for Andalas University Student.
<aside> 💡 The Problem Portal Unand’s current web app isn’t responsive to the current device, especially mobile devices. Aside from that, the important features (such as KRS, KHS, Transkrip) aren’t highlighted in the dashboard.
The Solution Redesign the website with more focus on the mobile version.

<aside> ⏳ Duration The actual design process took about a month and a half. However, since it’s a part of my final project, it took longer than that (including the report, the revision, the seminar, and everything).

I conducted two usability testings and the usability score resulted in 84. The first test is focused on how users check their student reports and the second test focused on how users fill out their academic plans.
The score represents the usability of the design which falls into the acceptable category.
This is my final project at Andalas University as one of the requirements to graduate.
As a Portal Unand user myself, I was bound to notice the non-responsiveness in the UI. Then, I noticed that the most important feature is not even highlighted in the dashboard. Also, there are so many features that could be added to this app—but, those are just my opinions. Do other users feel the same? I need to validate it. So I conducted a survey.
I gathered some qualitative insights from the survey. To analyze it better, I grouped it by using Affinity Diagram.

Okay, so other users are also not having the best experience in using Portal Unand. But wait—who are the users?
As I grouped the information by using an affinity diagram, I began to notice some patterns, such as users’ needs, behaviors, and frustrations. Thus, I turn these insights into a user persona to help me empathize more with the user.

Okay, so now I know who the users are, what their problems are, and what their needs are. Now I can ideate some solutions to solve these problems!
From the research, I identify users’ main goals.
